Welcome to New York Eye and Retina, the practice of Alan Sheyman MD. Our office is located in Forest Hills, New York.
Our goal is to treat you with the best possible care. Dr. Sheyman is an ophthalmologist who specializes in medical and surgical retinal diseases. Often times, these are frightening conditions to patients. We strive to reduce that anxiety and give our patients the best chance at preserving and improving their vision. We offer cutting edge, personalized treatment in a friendly office environment. Experience and Hospital Affiliations
After graduating at the top of his medical school class, earning honors in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Dr. Sheyman completed his medical and surgical training in New York City and Chicago. He began his career as a faculty member at the University of Maryland Department of Ophthalmology where he further honed his skills in medical and surgical retina, performed research, and was actively involved in teaching residents and medical students. Dr. Sheyman has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, including research on macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular pucker, and unusual diseases of the retina. He also has been the author and editor for multiple medical textbooks and chapters.
Dr. Sheyman has been in practice in New York City for several years. He continues to follow his passion of educating the next generation of ophthalmologists, working closely with the ophthalmology residents of Northwell Ophthalmology at Queens Hospital Center and the Northwell Health/Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital retinal fellows. He owes a great deal of gratitude to the many physicians and scientists that have inspired him throughout his career and helped shape the high level care he aims to provide his patients.

In his spare time, Dr. Sheyman enjoys spending time with his family, which has grown to include a loving wife and two small children. When not chasing his children around the playground, he is an avid tennis player. Dr. Sheyman is fluent in Russian and conversational Spanish.
